I'm a Third Culture Kid - "someone who [as a child] has spent a significant period of time in one or more culture(s) other than his or her own, thus integrating elements of those cultures and their own birth culture, into a third culture." (Kay Eakin) This moniker, this group, is what I most identify myself with, more than being a citizen of my home country. I've lived in Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Romania, the USA, Poland, England and again Poland.
I studied cognitive science in college, after a late start in so many ways, with an emphasis on psychology and philosophy. I'm hoping to go to graduate school of either psychology or cognitive science. Possibly something related to (Adult) Third Culture Kids/global nomads. If my hopes don't pan out, then there are always other alternatives. My alternative - pursuing a double-degree between two universities in Poland and England in MSc. of International Business Management (HR Specialization) and MSc. of IT, Management, and Organizational Change, respectively.
My romantic relationship has reverted back to its long-distance relationship (LDR) status. I also, trivially, miss a lot of the conveniences living in the US offered -- Amazon (Prime), Hulu, Netflix, English bookstores, English public libraries, Fruit Roll-Ups, understanding names and instructions in the pharmacy, quick releases of movies, and Halloween candy, to name several.
I have an account on Goodreads. Feel free to friend me there, too, if you wish! Just let me know you came from here!
My journal is friend-locked. If you want to be added, drop me a note on my most recent entry and tell me how you found me! :D Most likely I'll friend you back if we've hit it off somewhere else, (a community or a mutual friend's LJ), or your profile and public LJ are pretty intriguing!
